The 2006 Maryland Festival will take place in La Plata, Maryland February 10, 11 & 12, 2006, at Port Tobacoo Players Theatre. We will list performance slots here and have photos of the space here, once the information is available, so check back frequently for updates.

Adjudicators
Paul Donnelly has had two works nominated for the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding New Play, The Taste of Fire (2003) and After My Own Heart (1986). His work has won the Source 10-Minutes Play Contest, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities? Larry Neal Writers Award for Drama, and the Virginia Commission for the Arts? Virginia Playwriting Prize. He has directed for Cherry Red Productions, the Source Washington Theatre Festival, Charter Theatre, Madcap Players and Trumpet Vine Theatre Company. Paul served as Playwright-in-Residence in 1996, 1998-2001 and 2005 for New Voices, which gives high school playwrights selected from across Virginia the opportunity to spend three weeks in Richmond taking classes from theatre professionals and collaborating with them to present workshop productions of the students' plays. Paul has also taught playwriting at the Writer?s Center in Bethesda , MD and St. Mary?s College of Maryland . He is currently on the faculty of Washington DC ?s Theatre Lab. His next project will be directing the world premiere of his full-length play, Whole Against the Sky, for Trumpet Vine Theatre Company (running March 23-April 15).

Jennifer Plants teaches acting and theatre history at Hood College and is the director of Hood College Theatre (HCT). Directing credits at Hood include Stop Kiss, August Strindberg's The Stronger, Performing History: Brown vs. Board of Education (an original work,) The Vagina Monologues and Tartuffe. She holds an MFA in acting from the Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory, and recent local acting credits include Melissa in Necessary Targets (Olney Theatre Center/Potomac Theatre Project); Portia in Julius Caesar, Lady Montague in Romeo and Juliet, herself in Something Dickens This Way Comes and Gertrude in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (all Baltimore Shakespeare Festival); Hank in Exhibit A (The Kennedy Center Page-to-Stage Festival); and staged readings with The Shakespeare Project and Washington Shakespeare Company. Currently training to be an actor-combatant, Jen makes her home in Baltimore.

World renowned adjudicator Annette Procunier of Toronto, Canada has adjudicated more than 70 festivals in North America, Europe, Ireland and Japan in the past 18 years.  Highlights include AACTFest in 1999 and 2003, the World Festival in Monaco in 2001 and in Halifax in 2003 as well as the Yakamo International Theatre Festival in Japan in 2004.  Noted for her clarity and insight, Annette is adept at finding the key points in productions and assisting both the audience and participants to learn from her comments.  As part of this year's festival, Annette will conduct a free workshop on Directing on Friday, February 10, 2006 at 3:30 pm in the Port Tobacco Players Theater. There is no cost nor will reservations be made for this workshop. Just show up and join in the fun!
